Laura Linney, best known for portraying strong, but fragile characters, is one of the most well-known American actors of our times. Her father was a renowned playwright, but she was raised as a single child by her single-mother, a nurse. Through the summer months and with her father Linney discovered a love for the theatre. She eventually studied acting first in Brown University then at Juilliard School. After graduating from Brown University she started making her Broadway debut in the following year. After two years of this, her first feature film came out and the next year she made her television debut. Since then, she has performed in many films and stage and television productions. There were many awards she received during her professional career, which included the four Primetime Emmy Awards and two Golden Globe Awards. Yet, despite numerous awards the theatre is still her first love and she has continued to appear both in stage and screen.
