Jennifer Garner, born April 17th, 1972 in Houston, Texas, was born in Charleston West Virginia. The father of Jennifer Garner, William John Garner, was a chemical engineer for Union Carbide. Her mother Patricia Ann taught at a local college. The father of her was an engineer in the chemical industry so she wanted to be similar to him. Since she wanted to be an actress, she went to New York. When she was not appearing in Broadway shows, she was employed as a waitress. Her former husband Scott Foley met her on the show "Felicity," where she was a guest. Garner had her first big performance on the screen in "13 Going on 30" the romantic comedy that was widely praised. She played a teenage girl trapped inside the adult body. Garner chose Gary Winick for the role as director. The two continued working with each other on various projects to the time Winick passed away in 2011. Garner, who was designated as an artist ambassador by Save the Children U.S.A. for 2009, played an important role within the group. Apart from promoting early education, literacy as well as nutrition at a national level, Garner's role is also to promote nationwide literacy. Garner is a board member on the organization's board since 2014, serves as an advocate for the cause of early learning. Being a part of the Early Steps to School Success (EASS) program's ambassador team Garner regularly visits families to coach them on ways to inspire their kids to achieve.
