April Lockhart

April Lockhart, born in 1995 on the 4th of July. She began piano and guitar lessons at age seven. Her interest in writing songs was ignited. April's very first song was titled Different. She wrote it at the age of 12. It was a long time when she was 14 writing songs and playing. The following months she would begin taking trips to write together with her dad in LA in addition to NY. April was the month that she began to write about other issues in her book Take My Hand to help her pals who were struggling in the face of peer pressure, disability or even suicide. Lockhart collaborates with top clean-skin brand Ilia and is also a lifestyle influencer, with her own growing fan base. Lockhart was born without a left hand. It's one aspect of who she is, but it's hardly her whole story. As a result Lockhart's Instagram profile doesn't hide her disability, but she doesn't focus on it either. The point? There is more to us than just our physical self. The identities we have are complex and include a myriad of dimensions. Lockhart in a video message sent from Nashville's house, says that I do not want this to define me. I am more than my physical self. This doesn't have any effect on my day-to-day life I do every day as normal and have found my own method of adjusting things. Since it's part of me personally and something worthy of discussion. Lockhart who is an inspiration to self-acceptance and is currently on a lengthy process to attain it. Lockhart admits to having gone through phases where she was uncomfortable sporting certain clothes that exposed her arms. Now, though she dons what she's comfortable in and post photos of herself wearing those clothes to the internet with a sense of pride. Self-love, she says, is a process. "I don't think it's possible to be there," she said. It's a fact that I see with anyone, no matter what their issue may be.
